Hi Folks,

Upgrading a 10/22 I bought, and would like to get a Blued .920 barrel in a Sporter chamber. I have read about the Green Mountain barrel made specifically for the stinger cartridge, and all reports indicate it really improves the grouping of the stinger cartridge. Only thing is it is fluted. Not a big fan of fluting.

Anybody have a suggestion as to where a decent bull barrel can be purchased in Canada that does NOT have fluting?

Barrel needs to be at least 18" long to maintain NR status with my stock.

Thanks,

Leqs

Dlask carries the 20" KIDD match barrel.

I just finished a 10/22 build with a 16" KIDD ultralight barrel, It is a tack driver !

In my completely unscientific experience, generally length of barrel matters more than whether or not its a bull barrel when it comes to the Stingers and Quik Shots (segmented hollow point stingers).

They do reasonably well in my longer barreled .22 rifles (18" and over) and poorly in my shorter barreled .22 rifles (under 18"). I think it just takes the extra length for the rifling to engage and fully stabilize the round.

Having said that... hbean has it. DLask is the place to go for specialty 10/22 barrels.

Too bad you're opposed to fluting... Wanstalls carries an 18" fluted heavy barrel made by Volquartsen that might do the trick for you.

I remember someone carried a carbon fibre wrapped barrel that was supposed to be quite good, as well. Just can't remember who.

Some tight chambers don't like the longer case of the stinger. Dlask is a good resource and they are great to deal with. Their bench/target chamber won't work with stingers but their sporter chamber will.
