Well I am about to build a 10/22, assuming I ever see any parts showing up in the mail.
Anyways, I am modding a factory stock and opening up the barrel channel, but not sure how far to go.
I am gonna have to open it up quite a bit obviously, but my concern is that leaving it fully free floated, and unsupported is gonna lead to issues with the aluminum receiver.
I have read of barrel sag/droop, and that a pressure pad is the way to go to prevent this, and was thinking that the first couple inches of the barrel is the best bet for this, but at the same time I am reading of people claiming no issues with their barrels free floated.
Confusing to say the least, and I am hoping for some advice from those who have done a few of these builds.
Anyways the stock is a Stock Jacaranda and the barrel is a 12.5 inch Stainless Dlask.
Thanks for the help.
