So I was looking at the 10/22 Carbine and Compact models on Ruger's website, and a few things struck me. The first was that the fiber optic sights on the compact look much nicer than the standard 10/22 iron sights. The second was that the compact does not have a barrel band. Now, its my understanding that the barrel bands are really a no-no in terms of mechanical accuracy due to the barrel harmonics/vibrations and whatnot, and this understanding is reaffirmed by the fact that the 10/22 Target does not have barrel bands either.
Would this mean that the Compact model might actually have a higher accuracy capability than the carbine? Might this be offset by the slightly shorter sight radius?
Any help or input would be appreciated, thanks.
