10/22 custom barrel necessary?

I bedded the action and standard barrel on my Deluxe 10/22. Added a Volquartson trigger and hammer, smoothed up the bolt and internal surfaces and put on a Bushnel 4XAO scope. It's not a tack driver but can keep 10 shots inside a quarter at 20yds. from the prone position. Light to carry and the short barrel doesn't get snagged on the brush when you're sneaking up on Spruce Hens or rabbits. You do your part and it will deliver Grouse head shots at 25yds. As someone else here mentioned ammo is critical. Try several brands and pick the best.

I have a Green Mtn heavy barrel and Volquartson internals on my 10/22. At 25 yards it shoots a 5 round group off the bipod that looks like two touching holes.
