Fellow 10 22 lovers,

I am stuck on purchasing a 10 22 Target Tactical or building a DLASK from a 10 22 compact. I've been reading on the builds with the 12.5 or 16.5 DLASK barrels striking out at 200 yards and that excited me.

I've ordered a few simple yet must have internals for the next move, recoil buffer and an extended bolt auto release.

What are your thoughts on the stock VLEH or a build from scratch? A 12.5 inch barrel or 16.5 inch? Im going to use a Hogue OD green .920.

Thank you!

I would (and did) go for the Dlask. I'm tempted to replace another receiver with one from Dlask with the integrated rails. I have a Hogue stock on one of my 10/22s and quite like the feel, however, it doesn't free float the barrel. I've become a big fan of Boyd's Gunstocks for the 10/22.

My Dlask has the 12.5" barrel. It's a no-brainer compared to the Ruger. The quality of the Dlask receiver is much better. Mine came as a complete rifle and the trigger is excellent. So much so that I won't even bother to get any parts for it. I'm also a fan of the Boyd's stock (mine came with one of those also). The gun was less than $600.00 as a Christmas special and it's worth every penny.

I just received an e-mail from Dlask this am. They will do a complete rifle for $549 with a 12.5, 16.5 or 18.5 bull barrel. It has a standard Ruger bolt and trigger, but for $65 more they will do a trigger job (2.5-3.0 lbs). You can pick any colour Hogue stock. I had also been looking at getting either the Ruger Tactical Target or Dlask, but have decided to go for the Dlask and the trigger job. It seems like a good deal for only $50 more than the Ruger (not including the trigger) and I really wanted the 12.5" (Dlask only) barrel.

If you're getting a complete gun from Dlask, ask them to include the barrel length when they do the transfer through the CFC. I know of a couple of cases where Dlask processed complete guns as 'receiver only' and then you have to contact the registry to get a new certificate issued.
