10/22 drum mags

I bought two BC steel lip mags. One works flawlessly while the other one is guaranteed to fail before you can get off 3 shots.

I got a BC one at the flea market a while ago, steel lips. Best thisng I have gotten for my 10/22 for under $5. I did take on a little winter project tho... it is not 100% done but I will post pics when its done. It is a built from scratch 500 round drum mag for my 10/22 :D

yes please:)

Well I appreciate all the advice guys, I picked up two steel lips and a loader, one MGW, and one other 50 rounder, I'll try them all and post my thoughts. :)

Your thoughts on the MGW and the other
mystery 50 rounder please sir.:)

Ramline and american eagle magazines are crap. No one I know who has used the 50 round mwg has had good luck with them. How about a revelutionary new idea......A stamped sheet metal banana mag with a removable floor plate, spring and follower????!!!!!!My god would it be that hard? I'm tired of buying unreliable junk that can't be taken apart and cleaned.

It looks good but if a guy used a hydraulic press some good sheet metal and a forming die, it would simplify things and be a whole lot cheaper.

.22's are finnicky to feed due to their small size and rim, and need a very small and well formed mag channel/body. A 25 round stamped mag would be super skinny with a big blob on top for the mag interface with the 10/22 :p And, plastic feeds smoother, it is almost slightly lunricated versus steel, so cartridges as finnicky as .22's don't hang up as much, especially when dirt or grit is in the mag. The problem's with the cartridge, not the mags available, steel lips are good mags :)

The problem with the BC so called constant force spring is that the pulling pressure is on the side of the totally plastic follower not the bottom, and over time the follower will rub against the side of the cartridge groove and cause trouble. If you shoot very little these mags will do the job but I've fired thousands of rounds through mine and they eventualy have to be busted apart, cleaned and duct taped back together. Now I've seen metal 20 round mags for the gevarm that have functioned flawlessly and lasted 10 times longer than any plastic POS made by the manufacturer of your choice.

I must be damn unlucky. I have bought several hotlips, which work great until they start wearing out, so I bought 3 steel lips, all of which jam (2-3 times) each and every time I try to use them. I guess its back to the hot lips.

It seems the hotlips are a better mag than the steellips, the only draw back is they don't last as long.

I've been slowly filing away on my defective steel lip mag where it looked to be hanging up. The last time out it seemed to function fine, but I only got a chance to try it for one 25-round session so I'm going to leave it alone for now.

Three defective magazines... ouch!
