10/22 factory scope mount base? Or aftermarket?

Going to stop by cabelas and pick up a nikon rimfire 3-9x40BDC and hopefully some rings for the girlfriends 10/22 tomorrow.
I had heard talk that the factory (weaver?) base that is included in the box with the 10/22 but not mounted is junk. Any truth? Cabelas carry anything better?

Hoping to grab rings from cabelas as well.

The factory mount is pretty much junk. It's badly machined heavy coated in paint first thing I did was by a proper Weaver rail they are cheap for the 10/22 and mounted that.

By an aftermarket one, my factory rail seemed slightly undersized and some rings wouldn't fit tight.

I didn't like the factory supplied one either.

Purchased a cheap (NCStar or similar) one on eBay. It offers more mounting options.

Are the rails currently supplied by Ruger still the narrow dovetail for rimfire rings only? Those were utter junk...and yet there are still some being offered up on the EE for $15!

Get the Weaver TO9 base; accepts both 3/8-inch rimfire and standard Weaver-style rings, and you can probably find it for 10 or 11 bucks. Any store that sells any rings or bases will probably have it in stock.
