I just thought I'd mention to you guys that are looking for a deal on a green mountain barrel might want to check out www.rimfirecentral.com I just snagged a near new GM 18" blued fluted barrel for @$100.00 shipped to me:dancingbanana: I posted a want ad on their classifieds and a guy responded within a couple of days. There are always decent deals on stocks as well..... Good Luck

Unless I'm mistaken, all barrels require an export permit from the U.S.

It doesn't matter if it's new, used, $800, $8, free, or a private sale.

It's also against CGN rules to post any message that suggests or promotes breaking Canadian or U.S. laws.

That said, I'm sure you and the seller have obtained all of the neccessary permits and are willing to wait the 2 or 3 months is takes for U.S. Commerce approval. It would really suck to have U.S. customs seize your barrel.

Hope and pray it makes it,because it might not..

And yeah,i'm working on the GM bull and Shaw fluted barrels,it just takes forever

My understanding is that as long as it's valued under $100.00 then it can be exported no problem, I'll do some more research and let you guys know, The barrel made it here fine went through customs declared as a .22 long rifle barrel, I'd never do anything illegal, the only issue is the export from the US as far as I know, people were ordering barrels from across the line right up to last year, it was the US laws that changed as far as I know not the Canadian Laws.....But I'll check into it and let you know

Any barrels regardless of cost need an export permit from the states. So yeah, whoever sold it to you did a bad thing. Up until recently some people/companies have been sending .22 barrels across the border without permits, but that seems to have stopped now. I don't think the laws have changed recently, but maybe the enforcement of them. I know for a fact a couple years ago a permit was required, but some people ignored this fact.
