10/22 help required

As per a different thread, I recently purchased a 10/22 with Butler Creek folding stock. I had a "sticky bolt" issue once in a while. Thought it had something to do with the floating pins, so I "black taped" them. No help.
This morning I stripped 'er down, and I believe I found the issue.
Search around RimfireCentral, couldn't find anything I thought might help. :(
Action slides smoothly with trigger group out.
This is what I found:

The part labeled here as B8 is floppin' around like an old man's weewee in the wind.
The spring, A or B, depending on which end you're lookin' at, doesn't seem to be exerting pressure on anything. It is simply pushing down (B end) on an internal pin (bridge?) and the A end is pushing up under pin A.
As you can probably tell, I'm no 10/22 expert. Just picked this thing up on a whim.
Anything you tell me would be appreciated.

I bought a 10/22 about 6 months ago & changed some parts inside so I am a little familiar with them ( but no expert ).
I suggest an excellent web site www.ruger22.com.

There are all kinds on drawings, explanations etc on how to modify, take apart, put back together etc.

The way you are describing B8 & the spring sounds correct. It might just need a little smoothing out & some good lube.

That spring is for the bolt stop/release(B-41). The Ejector(B-8) only rides on the pin. You may need to shave a tad off the top of the ejector, as I recently had a buddy have that problem.
 
That piece with the action out will flop around, with the trigger group in the receiver it has nowhere to go. If the whole trigger group is dirty and the cross pins that hold the T/G in the receiver are too sloppy it may be sticky, If you use the tip on Rimfirecentral and "Radius" the bolt the sticky will go away.

I did most all of the tweaks on that site and have a slick trigger, I also changed out all the cross pins for ones that are larger in dia so all the slop is gone. I used the shank of number drills till I got the right ones. ground them to length and installed.

well 200 for a 10\22 with low round count and a 25 round mag, is half price
for what you bought since a new one there is 300 pluse 100 for the stock thats a 50% discount, good price but i talk to the guys at shooters all the time and they always tell me you get what you pay for.;)

but for the record i did think about it for a bit good luck with you purchace

Actually, it was $275. But I figured at least $240 for the gun and another $100+ for the stock... what the hell!!

Is it possible to install the trigger group with the ejector out of it's little cutout?
If so, will it fire/function?
When I pulled it apart this morning, it was just flopping around. Took a while before I had a real good chance to look at it.
Without cleaning it or anything else, I put everything back together and took it out to the range tonight. Not a single issue with it (other than some DynaDud problems, but that's another thread :().
Seems to me if the ejector was out of place, I should have had serious issues. Like zero cycling. Not the case. :confused:

In a word NO!!! the ejector must be in the slot or the two parts won't fit together. The trimming the other guys mentioned is new to me but you've got nothing to loose if it appears to an issue. Like I've suggested before, mod one thing at a time and take your time, when your done you'll be real good at taking that thing apart!! Trust me:eek:

Sounds exactly like the problem I had.
I figured out that it was the ejector rubbing against the bolt. You need to trim a little bit off the bottom, so the ejector sits lower. It shouldn't rub against moving parts if you trim it enough, and shouldn't affect reliability at all (I've gone through over 750 rounds now with my sanded down ejector).
