I considering getting a Ruger 10/22 and notice there are lots of models with a large range of prices.

I don't really think I need a heavy target barrel for plinking, etc. but I like the look of the sporter deluxe's stock. It's either that or a stainless barrel on a laminate stock, but I do believe they have target barrels and the price starts to climb to over $600.

Are these a decent semi auto .22 and are scope mounts available?

The deluxe model seems to sell for around $390 new. Are the high capacity (25 rd & 50 rd) aftermarket clips still available?

Thanks

The 10/22 is a great choice for a rifle. Buy the best you can afford. If you can afford the bells and whistles then go for it. How many times have you heard some one say they wished they had bought the fancier model instead??? Never heard any one complain when they bought a new car with all the options...

Don't bother buying the most expensive, with the 10/22 the after market is huge, so you can always make up for it buy customizing down the road.

Buy the one that you want the most. I got my stainless synthetic for $230 a little while ago, and even though its nothing fancy, I love it.

Great guns. Yes, high capacity mags are readily available. The receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope mount, so its easy to add one. Head into town and see some at the gun shops and find what you like.
