10/22 Jacaranda Stock Question

I'm planning to buy a Ruger 10/22 Jacaranda, but i want to put a shorter 16" match grade barrel in by McGowan or Butler Creek. I'm just wondering if this barrel would drop into this stock at all comfortably without any modifications. If not, i just want to know what I'm going to have to deal with.

Depends Christopher......
Is the stock made for a stock tapered barrel or a heavy barrel?
The barrel(s) you want to install are most likely "heavy barrels" (.920" O.D.)
If the stock is made for an OEM barrel, then they will not fit without modification.
The modification would require you to open up the barrel channel by sanding it to fit the O.D. of the barrel you want on your rifle.

It's an easy fix anyways. Just a piece of dowel wrapped in sandpaper and some elbow grease is all it takes to open up the barrel channel.

Hmm Good call with the dowel! I never thought of that! I have a heavy barrel sitting here that I havent installed because I only have the stock tapered stock. Time to break out the sandpaper!!

Thanks for the dowell idea! If i doesn't fit an OEM barrel i will try the dowell and sandpaper for sure, thank you!
