Got to test it today, aftermarket receiver machined to accept a LH bolt. Much nicer for range work, but took some getting used to. Bolt handle made of steel on my mill, about 30 min work. Knew it could be done, no issues to speak of, couple hundred rounds through it.

that is very cool. As a lefty, I have always wanted to do this. I would love to see more pics of the bolt. Did you machine the left side of the receiver yourself?

machining

Yup, all machining done by yours truly, including making the new handle. I've got it all apart again, so tonight I'll post some more pics. Scary project, if it doesn't work, I have a large vent in an otherwise nice receiver.

that would be tough. you'd have to cut an etractor slot at 9 oclock instead of 3 and move the ejector to the right. Also you would need a larger ejection slot which might weaken the action too much. I like the left bolt idea though. My fat hands make it hard to see when the action is clear unless I lock the bolt back.

Chamfered the back of the bolt, hopefully now it will cycle subs too. Hopefully the weather cooperates and I can get out again this weekend.

I shoot RH, did not notice any gasses being directed my way. My son shot it as well, I wanted to see if it would perform ok for someone else as well. He did not complain about any thing, thought it was great. Sure is nice to load a mag and pull the handle without taking my eye off the target.
