10/22 mag adaptors

I've read and seen some information on magazine adaptors for 10/22 to remington 597. Was looking for some personal testing on the reliability feeding, any issues etc.

Spectre ballistics works well. I can induce feeding issues if I push or pull on the mag, but otherwise it works well.

Are you using the polymer one or the aluminium one? I bought an early polymer one and I've had nothing but jams. I don't even use it anymore

can't speak for it since I don't have it, but they are almost always out of stock as soon as they restock. If they weren't reliable, I'm sure the forums by now would have let us know.

I bought an aluminum one. Works perfectly with my 10/22 and the black plastic/polymer Remington 597 magazines (bought 2 magazines). I generally shoot Remington Golden Bullet or Winchester 555 ammo out of them.

Expensive, but works as advertised, at least for me.

Sounds like I need to splurge on the aluminum one.

I've got the aluminum spectre one, it's awesome. The bigger issue is the tolerances on the plastic remington 597 mags, I had to sand a number of them to make them work well. Like a lot of sanding to make it work nicely.

edit sand the plastic magazine so they were true and mated with adapter without major friction, think 3 of 6 mags needed work, initial two were great

Haven't tried the 22 round mags, but both of my 30 round magazines are really hard to load after 20ish rounds. I generally load to about 25 and then stop. I assume it's just the magazine. I tried 29 rounds once. Didn't feel right feeding the ammo into the magazine but my 10/22 shot them fine as far as I remember.

I'm having troubles with mine. I bought the aluminium adapter and the dark clear 597 magazines that was on SBI website. It appears that the bolt catches on to the adapter. Anyone?

Just received my adapter and mag from SBI. They worked flawlessly for me. I have the aluminum adapter. Seems like a well made precision piece. Will be getting some more mags. Satisfied with this product.

I picked up the aluminum SBI adapter and smoked 597 mag combo off the SBI website. It worked perfectly in my SR-22 no matter how rapidly I fired. Very happy!
