I am picking up a 10/22 tommorrow as the gopher season will soon be apon us.
The store has the 25 rd banana mags , but i was wondering if the hi capacity mags were legal here ,Ie 50rd tear drop , and 50 rd Drum . and if legal does anyone in Canada stock them .

I've had nothing but headaches with aftermarket magazines. I would just by a few 10 round mags and forget about the "cool" 25 round mags.

Mine jams every single time, usually several times per magazine. I just gave up using it! There are some fixes for this but I haven't tried them yet.

I used the steel lips mags in a stock 10/22 and never had a problem with them. I now have a modded 10/22 and it's factory mags only. I guess I could get one of the aluminum hicaps for it.

The aftermarket mag's don't work in my rifle either. I have tried Butler Creek steel lips and hot lips and both didn't work.

Nothing beats the 10 round factory magazine.

depends on the gun- i've got 2 eagle 30 rounders and they feed both my 10/22s- but neither have been modified beyond a folding stock on one and the other is a factory original

+1. EXACTLY the issue I had.

When it comes to mags, 10 round factory are great.

I reload the BX-1 Factory mags by hand faster than I could get with the BC mags and the speedloader crank dohicky. And I need to reload a LOT. On a good gopher outing I can kill 400-500 in a few hours....:dancingbanana:

I picked up a 25 rd hot lips mag and it seems to work fine. appart from loading the damm things in the first place:confused:
Anyone know where i can get a butler creek mag loader in the republic of Alberta
dont seem to have much luck finding one.

I would say get the metal mags(25rounders) from tactical innovations they are a bit price but they ship to canada, the metal feed lips are adjustable and you can take the mag apart to clean it. I very impressed with mine.

I have 6 of the Tac inc composite mags...just as good if not better than the steel ones..the only ppl that complain about high caps are the people that buy the cheap ones..cough up the money and get good ones cheapskates!
