I am sure there is is all kinds of discussion on these, but I thought I'd ask again and hopefully get a straight forward yay or nay answer. Or am I over simplying things? :)

Are either of the 2 mags below "the" one to buy. Is one much better than the other or are both very reliables etc? Or is their another that is the market leader?

Butler Creek 25 rd 10/22 magazine

I believe I need to get the steel lipped one. Do they all come in that smokey semi clear plastic body?

or this one:

MWG 50 rd tear drop magazine

Thanks in advance.

If you want stone cold reliable, the factory BX-1 10 round mags are unbeatable.

I had steel lips and hot lips mags that worked well in my factory setup, but once I changed the barrel and started tweaking, they would jam constantly. I only use the factory mags now.

Steel Lips mags should come in smoke and clear color.

The MWG mags are cool, but consensus is that they are prone to jamming. Cool for popping off a ton of rounds in short order, but I'm not into really banging ammo downrange in rapid inaccurate bursts.

The steel lips ones tend to last longer. I've had a couple of the plastic one split open at the top. When I sent two of them both back to the US for warranty repair, the sent me ten of the 10 rounds because of the former 10 round mag restrictions. Great just what I really wanted, more ten rounders!

I get longer life out of the 25 rounds steel lips because the spring tension is not as much and they tend to feed better. You can banana clip then together also. The Ruger factory mags are still the best feeding mags.

I do have a number of the 10 round factory mags, just wanted to add a few of the larger capacity ones to the group. What are hot lips mags?

"Hot Lips" vs. "Steel Lips" -> the two variants of the Butler Creek 25 rd 10/22 magazine you mention above -> consensus is that it's better to get the steel lips (slightly more money) if you can find them. They come in 'smoke' or 'clear' plastic.

I was under the impression the only difference was the feed lips, but it sounds like there is also a difference in spring tension (?).

Anyhow - the steel lips work fine - your best bet for a >10 mag.

IMHO, the ONLY reason for owning a 10/22 as opposed to a different semi .22 is the hi cap magazines available. The hot lips do break eventually, but are inexpensive and esay to find. I haven't seen any steel lips around for a long time now and rumour has it that they're not made anymore.

I have a Tac. Innovations mag en route. I'll see if the hype is what it's worked up to be.
How much with shipping, and where did you get it?

It was offered to me by an American acquaintance from past dealings :)
After customs is done with it I'll be looking at somewhere's under $100

Granted, they dont look as nice as those Tactical inc mags, but heres my preference.

I like the EAGLE 30 rd mags.

They lock together like BC's, they hold 5 more rds, and they are under $20 shipped from Rimfire sports and custom.

Best of all they feed just as well as the steel lips magazines that are twice the price.

I imagine my steel lips mag will last longer, but I like the 30 round mags alot.
