10/22 maintenance?

I never clean the barrel on mine. So far the accuracy on mine is minute of clay pigeon. But I my to hunt and plink. It could be minute of side of barn for all I care.
If I want accuracy, I'd go bolt action and not semi.

Well depends on what you want to do with one, if all your going to do is shoot the smallest possible group on paper then the 10/22 is not for you. If you want to customize then the 10/22 is awesome and you can get a nice accurate gun with some money and time. If your looking to shoot MOG (minute of gopher) then there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 10/22. I have owned two, both were/are stock and shot well enough to have some fun "hunting" gophers. If I do my part, there is no reason to miss a gopher sized target.

I bought a marlin 795 last summer and it will shoot a 1" group of five at 50 yards using yellow jackets. I am very impressed with this .22. It was also very cheap at about $150. That is why I am dissappointed with the rugers I have owned.

My 10/22 is 29 years old, has fired at least 5000 rounds & looks and shoots like brand new "mint".

Wow. You dont shoot much. Mine is 9 months old and has roughly 2000 rds through her.

I clean it after each gopher outing. 500+rds.

Takes 5-10mins. I usally check my rings and mounts make sure they are tight, wipe it down and put it away.
