10/22 METAL Drum Mags?

I would just like to know if any of the 10/22 drum mags work reliably. I've got a Thompson kit on a 10/22 that is just begging for a drum mag. Metal would be nice of course although i doubt that anybody makes one. I would settle for one that feeds properly.

My Promag drum is getting better than when it is new. Still no way I can load 50 rounds without any problems. I find if I load one round at a time and max at 25-30 rounds it works decent. Loading more than one round at a time and it jams. Still not anywhere close to reliability of banana mags. Waiting and hoping the GSG 110 round drum will be better.

Drum mag

I heard about all the grief with the commercially purchased drums, so I designed my own based on a Ruger std mag. It loads 52 and will fire 47 without fail. Took as long to do the drum as the initial build of the Tommy gun. Lots of head scratching and trial and error.

Ever thought of punching those out to the masses.....there are at least 3 of us that want one. There must be more :D

If it functions 100% I'd buy 10/22's just so I can buy these drum mags.

I'd be in for maybe even 4-6 drums in a group buy for friends.

If they function they'll sell like hotcakes man! Everyone hates the crap that's out there right now.

Nothing to get excited about. If you look close this drum will only fit a Thompson style gun. It fits the same as an original Tommy gun mag, not with a regular stock. Doing them on manual machinery is very time consuming. Programmed to cnc might make it possible but still a lot of fit and fiddle to make it work. I modified the stock mag for reliable feeding, no need to re-invent the wheel. Winds up like a real one. I didn't save any sketches or dimensions as it was made as a one time project.

Man, every im i see this thing, im still amazed! It goes to show what some guys are capable if they really put their all into it! That is one seriously fine piece of work!

Congrats!

GiNNz!

A little hint on the operation. The rounds are at a 10 deg angle in the drum opposite to the red guide in the stock mag to account for the rim on the case. The red center had to be machined to accomodate one more round to allow for free rotation. Any one wanting to copy this, feel free.

Not very likely. Another CGN member, Mr AR15, had posted about the same type of gun kit and found it would be cost prohibitive to try to produce something like this with the relatively small market here in Canuckland. Do a search on the subject, it's informative reading. Mine just went a step farther with the drum, I wanted it to fit and operate better than the commercial offerings. Having the time and tools lets me experiment and not be limited to off the shelf parts.

Why limit sales to canada only? can't you just set up a shop and get the proper export/import permits to sell to canada or internationally? I'm sure there are american companies that would do most of the leg work if you made them an exclusive distributor of the product. You could probably sell them as fast as you can make em.

Gangster mag

Finally shot a video of my drum. Had a ftf at 45 but it only fires 47 out of 52 anyway. Poor quality video from shade on the line. Don't know how to add just the one vid and not the whole album. Help????
