10/22 Modified with a Ruger Factory 16.1” Fibre Optic Barrel?

I’m thinking of buying (if I even can), a Ruger factory 16.1” barrel with the fibre optic sights. This would replace my factory 18.5” barrel with the crappy gold-bead front sight. I assume this will bolt right up to my laminate carbine model.

Pros;

- Factory components
- Factory installed FO sights

Cons;

- Not much bang for the buck due to cost (probably)
- Dlask barrel (12”) would be better, but need to fit sights, and would probably cost more than the Ruger 16”

Has anyone here done this?

Yes, it will bolt up without issue. It would be a hard barrel to find stock, might call location snapshot (Rugers warranty center in Canada.) They might be able to source it. As for the barrel quality Ruger makes an ok barrel, the Dlask is a well made unit and will be more consistent. Another thought is to check out Tactical Solutions, they make a 16" barrel that is a heavy profile with an aluminum outer core and they can be had with iron sights. Maybe worth a look, or you can check out Tek sights they make some interesting sight upgrades for the 10/22.

One thing to keep in mind is the 10/22 has argubaly one of the largest aftermarkets of any rifle available today. If you just want your sites upgraded there are tons of options without swapping a whole barrel. Just a thought! good luck!
