I am curious, there are lots of guys out there that have 10/22 rifles with short barrels on them running around the minimum NR length.

I am curious, has anyone here our a Charger stock on a 10/22 rifle with a 16in or 18in barrel, keeping it just over the 26in NR length?

Sort of keeping the small package with the extra barrel length for velocity.

I know, not going to be the most stable thing around to shoot but in my brain is sort of cool.

I would think that you can’t make a Charger receiver NR from restricted as it was made as a «#pistol#». I could be wrong though.

Not making a Charger receiver NR but rather making a NR 10/22 short and having only a charger pistol stock, an long barreled charger essentially but built on an NR carbine.

Any folding stock such as a Butler Creek or ATI with the stock folded would create this type of firearm. As long as the overall length is greater then 26" when folded your legal.

357

Yes, but added weight and the back part of the stock being somewhere, normally to the side.

You need a 18" barrel on the 10/22 with a bc folding stock
Anyone who puts a charger stock on a normal 10/22 will likely leave it on there for about 5min before realizing pistol grip only stocks on a rifle is quite useless compared to a full stock and shorter barrel.

How far you reaching out with a 10/22 without a proper stock that you need the extra maybe 20fps from a 18" barrel compared to a 16" barrel with a full stock that you can actually aim...

I have a 22 rifle, a few of them actually.

The stock on this rifle is a folder and a POS, it is a BC folder, feels like garbage.

I could go and put a standard sporter stock on it or a weird kit but never going to keep that BC folder on it.

I thought heck, the Charger is a 10in barrel, the sporter barrel is not very heavy at the muzzle, how much worse would the extra length be, a red dot on it why not.

I don't care to have a 10/22 sporter, I have a bolt gun that is a tack driver.

Sure you could do it, I myself dont see why but you probably dont see much point of short barrel rifles either, which i really dont like anything under 16".
Lots of people think they are cool though so lets not argue peoples preferences....lol.

Probably the easiest thing for you to do is to get a TAPCO stock, it has a removable butt stock and you can go pistol mode all you like without mods. They often show up on the EE. As for a charger pistol i would like to make a pirate pistol, google 10/22 pirate pistol it will come up with tincanbanditblog. I tried to post a link but they have some sort of code protection.

Ok, that is hilarious, I love it.

I like the Tommy gun one too.

I guess the main thing is that the folder on it had been cut to fit around the sights, it was fit poorly.

I thought if I need to get a stock anyway then a Boyds charger stock would be really cool, but maybe take the back end off the folder first and see how good or bad it may be to shoot without a stock.

I took this picture as a joke - I never fired it in this configuration, but I thought you might enjoy it...

I assume that was a rifle to start? If so, it became a prohibited weapon the second you dropped it in the stock, whether you fired it or not... assuming that it is under 26", which it definitely appears to be... might want to go easy on posting pictures.

Good point hoytcanon. Lucky for me, when I took this picture, years ago, I realized the error of my ways within minutes and immediately disassembled it and put the barrelled action back in a rifle stock. This conversation actually reminds me of the time I was getting the RCMP to verify a 10/22 that I changed into a restricted handgun. The first picture I sent them was accidentally prohibited rather than restricted. OOPS! The fellow I was dealing with was quick to point out my mistake but was happy as soon as I sent a follow up picture with a legal restricted configuration. When you think about it, we all create unintended temporarily restricted and prohibit firearms during repairs and maintenance. For example, if I take off the stock from my NR 14" barreled 870 shotgun to replace it with a different stock, I have temporarily created a restricted shotgun.

I had one of those wait a second moments, but yes, a NR firearm modifed to be under 660mm (26in) or a barrel under 457mm (18in) is a prohib.

This is the idea though, but with a factory 18.5in barrel, not a normal scope though but either irons or a red dot.

Practical? Probably not for a lot of things but neither is a pistol grip shotgun or a a Mossberg 30-30 Zombie edition, ha ha.

Waiting on some FEA testing, did a little mock up based on the scale of a standard Charger, it should look something like this.

Here is what it may look like with the irons on it.

The scale is obviously not right, ha ha, the sights one is probably more accurate, ha ha.

i have a charger and about a dozen normal 10/22's so i could go and slap a stock 10/22 into the charger stock for you if you need that pic to see i guess.

its the new style charger, so different stock then the Boyd stock they use to come with, the one with the AR pistol grip on it.

Not anything going to happen in the near future but I am just curious if it had been done.

I think that folding stocks are pretty much useless on anything other than a shotgun, at least anything we can legally own.
