10/22 open sights suggestions

Hey all, going to build a decent 10/22, but I don't want to go scope or red dot.

Iron sights on this one. Possibly an M1 Carbine reproduction maybe.

I see the Tech sights, 100 and 200.

I also see something that screws into the back scope mount holes, and looks like a peep sight?

anyone use something like this?

I am not into anything really fancy, or super expensive, but definitely better than the stock rear sight, and goes to the back of the receiver for a longer sight radius. The front sight is fine by me, provided the rear sight is the correct height for it.

There's a nice williams peep sight for 10/22 I found on hical.ca..

On a side note, if I had the means to build my own 10/22 from the ground up I’d start with a receiver that has a rail machined in it (like a dlask or a ch22) and on the front of my hypothetical bull barrel I would mount a rail (I’ve seen ones online that fit a bull barrel it fastens by tightening it around the barrel – sorry terrible explanation, id show a picture if I could.)

With those two features you would have a huge variety of options for sights, much more so than just for the 10/22, and you could still put an optic on if you felt like it but still have your back up sights :)
 
+1 on the Williams. I have it with the front fibre optic sight...awesome sight and only about $45.
I got mine from Western Gun Parts last time I was in Edmonton.

It is the WGRS Firesight that I have.

The Tech Sights are very nice and I prefer them. I find the Tech sight front post is finer and allows some 'finer' shooting. Both are good sight sets though.
 
with that first Williams sight, would it work with just the rear and leave the front one stock? Or is their front sight taller or shorter than stock?
 
If you go with the Williams' WGRS rear you will need a higher front sight. I believe they call for a .570. I went that route, but decided I didn't like the firesight and ended up putting a TRS-25 red dot on instead. The other thing I didn't like with the WGRS was the very small adjusting screws which are kind of fiddly to adjust. Fine if you set it once and leave them alone but they are a pain to tweak. It is very compact though.
Another option is to go with the Williams FP-RU-TK rear but it mounts on the side of the receiver and requires drilling and tapping. It sits lower but you will still probably still need a slightly higher front blade. The target knobs are much easier to adjust and you can get different size apertures. I didn't go that route because I didn't want to drill and tap my 1960's era 10/22.
You can also try mounting the FP-GR rear on the weaver rail that comes with the 10/22 but I found it would have required inletting the stock on the left side to get it to lower fully.

You can switch out the front posts too, I got a fiber optic one in mine now, a finer one could be put in.
