I am looking for some optics for my 10/22 and have bene considering the purchase of a Bushnell Elite 3200 AO. Most of my shooting will be from a bench rest, either at 50 or 100 yards. What would you recommend as far as scope magnification?

3-9x40 AO
4-12X40 AO
5-15X40 AO

All other scope recommendations, or other assistance, is much appreciated.:D

I got a bushnell elite 3200 5-15x40 on my custom 10/22 and love it. Here are some groups I have shot with the set up in the past couple days. If your target shooting, you want at least 15 power, but more is better. On my benchrest gun I have 24 power fixed (leupold). If hunting, the lower field of view is nice. The 5-15 is a nice all around scope.

Group measures about .175. 5 shots at 50 yards

1 shot at each bull - 25 yards

frankly I firmly believe the bigger optics as the best ticket for the 10/22 HB custom guns that most people are building..... my favorite personal choice is the elite 4200 6-24x40 with the side adjust paralax adjustment.

one of my rifles wears a tasco varmit 6-24x42AO and the other wears a luepold clone mk4 3.5-10x40AO with side adjust.

just waiting for funds to get that elite 4200... or if I am feeling rich a leupold 6.5-20LR.

How about a Bushnell Legend 5-15x40mm AO mil-dot for a Ruger 22 Target model? I've got the Legend just sitting around NIB & just need to get off my a$$ and order the target 10/22 from Wholesale.

I have two other standard 10/22's... one has a Bushnell compact 4x on it & the other has a Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5 compact on it. They seem to be good scopes for the standard model.

CZ452shooter - That rifle is almost too boring, you should get rid of it & get something that's a challenge... :p Just kidding.... nice targets, you gotta love that rifle. Bet it's a keeper!

lol Thanks :)

If this gun is boring my benchrest gun must be mega mega boring  .

She is definately a keeper ;)

I have an el cheapo Tasco golden antler 3x9 on mine - but for killing gophers I find its great. I spent money on the stock, barrel, trigger job, and headspacing....but mine is definately I field gun, not for benchrest. I gotta ask - why a 10/22 for benchrest? The reason I love my 10/22 for field is a field of varmints - and a 50 round drum.

You're probably right. A 10/22 for benchrest may be a bit of wishfull thinking. Varmints seem like the logical choice, but I plan on spending most of my time punching paper.....whether the 10/22 is a tack driver or not. Plans are in the works for an aftermaket GM barrel, as well as some upgraded trigger parts. 50 round drum sounds like fun too........!:D
