I just swapped out my carbine barrel for a compact barrel. Looks nifty in a carbine stock to. Anyway my problem is I cant see the rear fiber sight with my weaver rail installed, plus it sticks out a bit beyond the receiver hitting the new sight. Are there short receiver screws available to plug the rail holes if you chose to only use the irons. I guess leaving them empty wouldnt hurt but is there a source for these short plugs.

Can I find a compact barrel in stainless? That's a good idea, let me know if you notice much difference in accuracy over the 50yrd mark - lose a little sight radius and less muzzle velocity etc... and I have tech sights and manage 1" groups outside the odd flyer with cheap bulk ammo. Don't want to impact my grouse headshot ability too greatly but love the idea of a more compact rifle. Also looking at one of those Butler Creek folding stocks for it - she'll pack away nicely!

Go into your local gun store and I'm sure they will give them to you as we remove hundreds of filler screws every year and throw most in the trash. Phil.

There were no "compact" barrels available in stainless, blued only. Also, the compact barrel paired with a folding stock will put you under the legal minimum OAL.

Dont have much for stores and gunsmiths in these parts. Was lucky to find a compact barrel in the EE. Its neat because the barrel band doesnt tounch the barrel when tightened down. Cheers
