How often should the recoil spring in a 10/22 be replaced? I have noticed that the bolt on mine seems a little slack and I've had a few FTFs that were fixed simply by pulling back and releasing the bolt again. (it looked as if the bolt was stopped by the round in the mag) It's as if the spring just doesn't have enough push left in it. I have no idea how many rounds have been put through it as I bought it used but I can tell you that I've probably put close to 10,000 rounds through it.

Where can I get new recoil springs and should I get two (or three) if I'm gonna keep shooting this volume per year?

Thanks!

Matthew

I would first try cleaning the chamber - this can sometimes be the reason FTE's (therefore FTF's), and adjusting the tension on the magazine. Sometimes they can be set very high or low, which either caueses them to jam and hit above the chamber, or as you mentioned, make the bolt get stuck my the round istself. There is information on this in the 10/22 sticky I believe.
