Well today was the first time I had a chance to try out my new 10/22.

I have the black synthetic stock, blued barrel, auto release mod, vq mag release. I have the vq extractor and bolt buffer in the mail.

I set some targets I printed off the internet and set them up at 25yrds.

I started off with some hp American Eagle in the stock magazine. 3rd round was failure to feed. The rest were all good. I was shooting quite high and to the left. Open sights by the way.

I played with the sights and did get them down a bit, but seems like I need to drop some more which I can't.

I tried out some Federal Classic, SuperX, Wildcat, and some CCI Velocitors.

I had NO jams other than the 3rd round.

All my shots were to the left and about 2-3 inches high.

I loved the gun, BUT damn!!!!! The trigger sucks!!! I'm going to have to do something about that! I'll be looking into some mods for that for sure!!

So other than the trigger I have no real complaints. Oh yes, the other thing... I accidently hit the extended mag release twice and the stock mag fell out into the snow!! I'll have to be carefull with that. I could have adjusted the windage if I had a hammer and center punch, which I forgot to bring with me.

Oh and I have a ButlerCreek 25rd mag. Worked flawlessly!!!!

So my first impression of a Ruger 10/22....

I give it a 9 out of 10.

I have feed 3000 rounds and still havent taken it appart to clean it...

Just spray it down with carb cleaner once in a while...

love my 10/22

the 10-22 is a fun gun to shoot for sure.you can do the rfc trigger job if you are a tinker.flip the rear sight leaf so you are using the large notch.it may help to lower the point of impact.

Thank you for the pointer!!!............ I just went and checked the gun out.... I had NO idea I could flip the sights. I'll give that a try! What is rfc??

Thanks again.

:D

I have a heavy barreled stainless steel Ruger 10/22T (the "T" I presume stands for Target).

It has a Leupold 3-9x40 silver scope on it.

I bought it because it has a beautiful laminated stock but I actually haven't fired it in years.

It's too heavy for hunting in my books.

How accurate are these things???

My 10/22T will shoot 5/8" all day long from the bench with a 32 power scope:D. Yes very heavy for hunting but mine mostly sits in the truck. I forgot to add though that it is very picky with ammo. It seems to like Eley club ammo.
