10/22 safety button question

I hate having to swap hands to use the safety.
So my question is,
Is there a way we could use a button style safety?
Push the button inwords, it would lock inward. (ready to fire position)
When finished firing, simply push on the same side of the button and it would spring back out to its (Safe On) position.

This way all the action is on one side of the gun. Would be even more ideal if it was on the right side of the gun so the trigger hand did all the work.

Anyway just my 2 cents!
 
On a 10/22 the safety only works when the Action is cocked.
Unless someone has monkeyed around with the sear enough, then the safety probably doesn't work at all.

I just roll the gun onto its left side and reach underneath with my trigger finger to engage the safety without moving my left hand on the forearm. Doesn't that work for you?

Yep that works, however if you have a loaded round in the chamber, it means you're pointing the gun upward and at a angle. I can see most indoor gun ranges having issues with that.
Thus my thinking about a push button safety.
What do you guys think, is something possible to make?
