So I managed to get my hands on a Left hand 10/22 With the intent of some Rimfire PRS and Long range stuff. I was wondering what you guys are using for optics?

What magnification ranges do you use ? One thing to keep in mind is I will likely still use this for rabbits and grouse so something starting in the 2-3 would be great.

For now I may just mount whatever scope I can find for the time being just to get out and shot it one its arrives.

Any suggestions for setup are always welcome. I am located in the Fraser valley in BC so anyone out this way who can point me towards some matches would be great as I don't currently see anything for 2022.

Cheers,
B

Pm or email and I am happy to help you with an optic.

Most will use a higher variable with a bottom end around 4 to 6... and an upper end around 20 to 32X

You need ALOT of internal travel so many are going to 34mm tubes. By default, these will be bigger and heavier scopes which is fine for the game but may not be ideal for pure hunting.

FFP and Xmas tree reticles are the norm... glass quality and other features can be discussed and pros/cons depend on shooter tastes and distances.

Tracking and quality of function is critical in this game and there is a min price of entry for optics that work.... around $800 as a min for a fully functional and competitive optic. From there, the sky is the limit.

Most matches in BC are of the LR variety. BCPRL, CRPS, and Long Range Steel Slayers will have the longer and larger matches. Joe Rich club in Kelowna will have NRL22 type matches so of the shorter variety in general.

I think there will be a match in Feb in the lower mainland somewhere.

Happy to help you get set up for this game.

Hey Jerry, I will definitely be taking you up on that offer!

I see a match at my local club (chilliwack fish and game) in February and I may sign up but not sure if I’ll have an optic on it just yet! May go to watch possibly!

Cheers

I put an Athlon midas tac 4-16x44 on a rifle built for my son and I to hot change at matches. He is only 10 and it’s just easier to figure out dope and pack one rifle at a match. Anyway the scope preforms great with over 30mils of elevation and it still light and small enough to use for hunting. The targets for 22 are so big and close I don’t think higher mag is necessary at all.
We brought lots of chickens home with this comb in the fall as well.
