Hey folks i was wondering if i could get some opinions. I just recently Purchased a Ruger 10/22 Target Tactical. Ive read and seen videos of these rifles reaching out to 200+ yards and though i am new to target shooting and will be focused on the 50-100 yard range for a while I do want the option to go out past 200 at some point without having to replace my sight.

I'm looking for an overall good bang for my buck. I would prefer to have adjustable Parallax, An appropriate magnification, and though it is not necessary a mil-dot reticule.

I did see this at a local walmart for around 200 but have reservations of buying anything for my gun from there. http://www.bushnell.com/all-products/rifle-scopes/trophy-xlt/4-12x-40mm-matte-black-doa-600-reticle

Thank you in advance for the information it is appreciated.

Stay away from the optic you listed. The DOA reticle is not a target reticle it's meant as a ranging reticle for game. You have posted in the correct forum of course for optics advice but i suggest you also ask this in the rimfire forum as you will get more advice quicker. For decent value and glass check out Hawke optics. I have a target tactical as well as a few dlask builds and all of them are capable of shooting out to 200. I'd suggest a minimum of 4-16x with most of mine wearing 24x. Also offset rings a good 20 MOA scope base and an optic with large internal elevation adjustments to help get you out there whole keeping you in the sweet spot of the glass.

For a 10/22, you want a scope to match the size and stature of the gun. Some very good rimfire models from Vortex, Nikon and Leupold. I put a VX-1 2-7x28 Rimfire on mine and couldn't be happier with it. Its compact, has shorter eye relief to accommodate for the short LOP on the 10/22 and it has a parallax set for 50 yards. My only gripe would be the Fine Duplex reticle is a little too fine, but I have gotten used to it. Do yourself a favour and don't put a cheap scope on 22 just because its an inexpensive gun. Don't overscope the gun either, 7x is more than enough for plinking out to 200yards.

Did you buy it new or used?

I second Hawke as well. I just got me a Varmint 4-16x44 and so far it seems like a real good deal. I havent checked it out in the field yet, but from what Ive read it seems like a good buy. I also agree with faction that you should go with atleast 16 power for a scope, specially if your shooting paper and plan on taking that 22 out to 200 later on. Plus Hawke has a neat little program that you can download for free to see and figure out the trajectories of your rounds.

Other scopes I was looking at before were
Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44
Mueller AVP/APT
Bushnell Legend HD Ultra 4-14x44

cheers

I second @DILLIGAF on the Nikon P-22, there are a bunch of them on sale at a gun store in Kitchener right now for $169.00. Cant name the store as they are not a supporting dealer on CGN :-(

Yes, you can name the store, but you can not post link to their website.

Which store is it?

The much fun you will have with your 22, is with a Hilux CMR 1X4X24, just ordered my fourth one yesterday, it is a hell of a scope for the money and clear, very clear... JP.
