Does anybody in Canada carry after market 10/22 barrels in sporter contour? I'd like to try a new barrel, but I don't want a heavy barrel. Or for that matter does anybody know of a gun smith that will rechamber my original barrel with a Bentz chamber?

Dlask might. IMO if youre thinking about accuracy with a light barrel, maybe look at a tactical solution or magnum research barrel. They are much light than a stock barrel and way lighter than a kidd or volquartsen barrel. Plus alot cheaper.
Just recrowning your barrel helps but why not sell your barrel and swap for a new one?

Order one through Mystic Precision, Jerry can have one made to your liking in any contour with a bentz chamber from either shilen or McGowan.

Who carries the barrels you mentioned?

Joe Brooks has Kidd stuff from time to time, wanstalls carries the tactical solutions barrel and questar carries PWS carbon fibre tension barrels also quite light. Kidd makes a carbonfibre tension barrel as well. The PWS and kidd will be expensive though.

Wanstalls for the tactical solution barrel. The magnum research barrel is really had to get in Canada however the complete gun isnt.
Mystic has great service but I remind you the barrels are much heavier.
Questar as stated has the PWS barrel. Great reviews but costly amd IIRC is 1.3lbs.
It really boils down to is you only shoot off a bipod/bench or offhand aswell as rest the gun.
If youre always shooting off a rest, weight isnt an issue, so any barrel will work.
If youre shooting offhand, IMO a 3 lbs barrel is alot of weight to add and carry around. Some like it. Ive seen alot of SR22 with heavy bull barrels in maurder kits. They end up over 7/8lbs with a little scope/ red dot.

Hes looking for a sporter contour barrel so it wont be any more heavier than what he is used to. A heavy barrel helps with stabilizing off-hand shots by the way. If you're not in good enough shape to carry around a 7lb rifle for a few hours I'd advise seeing a doctor.

I guess you cant read. The OP stated he cared about weight. I also would like you to tell me the weights of an aftermarket sportser barrel please. FYI its more than stock. Sometime double the weight.

I guess you can't read either. He stated he doesn't want a heavy barrel, a sporter contour barrel isn't a heavy barrel. All he has to do is compare the dimensions of the barrel he is ordering to that of the stock ruger barrel to get an idea of weight. FYI if a sporter barrel is double the weight of the stock barrel than it isn't a sporter contour. Gain some knowledge before you steer people towards buying a $250 barrel just because you own one, when one that runs under 200 will be perfectly suitable for their needs. Also all the barrels you suggested are bull barrels and not sporter contours.

ER shaw after market barrel
Contour 1
Lightweight Sporter
24" 1.150" 2.000" 2.000" .850" .550" 2lbs., 11oz. there you go, 24 inch sporter contour barrel, less than 3lbs

Those are way longer than OP would want or need I would imagine, therefore ordering them to length would take easily about a pound off the weights I listed.

Ok, thanks for the replies, I was thinking about a "factory contour" aftermarket barrel, so I will check out those links. I'm just in the process of staring my first build, or at least thinking about it.

mystic can get the contour you want. The others will all be a straight .920 to the muzzle. What barrel length are you thinking about?
