My stock extractor on my SR-22 fell out at the range and the extractor plunger got lost so I had to get a new plunger. My aftermarket extractor and spring are on order, but in the mean time, I wanted to get back to shooting so I had to install the stock one

Not sure if I'm the first to come up with this (probably not), but after watching a couple videos on how to change the extractor on my SR-22, I rounded up the tools to disassemble the rifle and take the bolt out to work on it. While collecting tools for the task at hand, I picked out a decent pick from the tool box for pulling the spring back and looked at the gun (in hand) to make sure it was an appropriate pick. looking at it I figured why not just hold the bolt open about half way and do the installation with the gun completely intact. I pulled a 13mm socket out of the drawer and placed it carefully in between the end of the bolt and the barrel and it seemed to hold it open to the perfect length.

I was able to put the plunger in place and pull it back enough to gently set the extractor back in it place and voila, finished in less than 30 seconds.

As I said, not sure if this has been thought of or done before, but for someone that needs to do this in a hurry, or doesn't want to completely disassemble the gun, this method worked GREAT for me.
