I have a 10/22 stainless target rifle. I added a bolt release and a extended mag release. My question is: will a Volquartsen Stabilization Unit (muzzle brake) really improve accuracy/ reduce muzzle jump ?

I made my own recoil buffer from a hot glue stick....YES! a glue stick. The small sticks 6.8mm (0.27") works well. Just trim the ends to fit the receiver holes and pop it in from inside the receiver, no need to trim the whole stick to actual pin diameter. It actually works quite well and I haven't seen signs of the stick breaking down (about 300 rounds so far). Even if it does I can just cut another piece if stick, trim the ends and pop another in. Cost of 2" of stick about 8 cents (bag of 18 pcs for glue gun was about $3.50). Alot cheaper than a aftermarket piece at $10.00. IMO it does the same job.

The VQ Stabilization unit - don't call is a suppressor, cuz it's not - looks pretty, but I doubt it has much use. Muzzle jump from a .22 is pretty much non existant, so useless for that.

Check rimfirecentral.com for more opinions on the VQ unit. I'm pretty sure if they drasticallly improved accuracy, we'd ALL know about it.

They are a ##### to clean too!

If you want an immediate and substantial increase in accuracy, get rid of your factory barrel (and I mean the 10/22T bull barrel) and replace it with a Volq. Carbon firber or any of their other barrels. You will not believe the difference.

Canucklehead, I tend to disagree. How light muzzle jump is very well made up for by bullet being way too slow. There are other theories on the subject but after all - those things work in more than one way.

The purpose is not to reduce muzzle flip - it is designed to minimize the destabilizing blast at the base of the bullet for greater accuracy. Does it work - YES - I have tested, but only if the module exit hole is PERFECTLY aligned with the bore only.I have a similar thread on type that was aligned.
