I was at a gun show earlier in the year and I came across a standard wood 10/22 with the barrel band. I have the 10/22 with the grey floating synthetic stock without the barrel band. I didn't buy it as I wasn't for sure on the swap result

Being the barrel length is the same, should I have any issue swapping my grey synthetic stock without the band for the wood stock with the band? Anyone ever do this swap and how was it? Drop in and go?

Thanks in advance.

Possible the band may not fit the carbine barrel. The band is the second contact point to hold the barreled action in place. Old tech but served WWII designers well.

I would not want to use the band if there is any real desire for accuracy.

If the gunshow 10/22 is an old production unit from a few decades back and has an alum trigger housing, might be a good buy as a base to build a very good shooting rifle.

However, the current gen carbines are actually built well and I am using one in my rimfire precision build... plastic trigger housing and all.

YMMV
