Bought a new blued takedown the other day. Had my gunner buddy fix the stupid magazine release. Took it out of the bag today and sighted it in. Had to adjust both wind and elevation. Got it shooting really nicely. Took it apart a couple of times after sighting it in, to see if it lost its trueness (new word). Shot like a darn!

It is very important to understand the proper method of adjusting it when first assembling it. If it is done properly, it will need no further fiddling. RTFM. I am quite tickled about the way it shoots. It will be my traveling partner in the truck or car. I will make up a little kit to fit in the bag. Any ideas will be welcome. :)

I just picked one of those up in stainless this weekend. Mine also took some adjustment to sight in, but it's a fun little gun!
 
I just picked one up haven't taken it out yet, any tricks I should know? I have a BX trigger and Kidd bolt release & charging handle to be installed.
 
I am definitely buying a 10/22 this month. I keep going back and forth on stocks, barrels, optics setups, etc. Last night I decided that the takedown is the best fit for me and I feel good about it. Glad to hear it's working well for you.
 
Yep. Couldn't be happier. :) The little carry case will fit quite nicely under the back seat of my wife's nice new F-150 Super Crew! :cool:
 
I too picked up a stainless take down.
Found an awesome Tacstar stock in the Cabela's bargain cave........ 70% off..
Still trying to find the right ammo....
It doesn't like Winchester, but does seem to like Blazer.
Will clean, shoot and re-assess:)
 
I used Winchester 555's. Seemed to work fine. I have several different kinds of ammo, but that's all I took with me. I will be sure to try some others. I was pleased with the way I could shoot it off hand. We were shooting little gopher sized self-healing spinners and one of those orange ball things that you chase across the lawn.

I have two 10/22 TD SS rifles. The fact that I have two should speak volumes as to just how much I love them.

I know I harp all over CGN about this, but grab a KIDD or Volquartsen extractor too and you'll be golden! Oh and another thing I've been up too with all my 10/22's lately is in the action it's been dry graphite powder only for lubricant and things have been running like clock work.

Good point. ..... seeing as how readily available parts are for the 10/22, the OP may want to grind the rear of the bolt where it contacts the hammer to get an even smoother cycle with a bit less energy needed to #### the hammer. Puts a bit more emphasis on having a tougher buffer as the bolt will be hitting it with a bit more authority, thats for sure. I've refaced that area of my bolt and mirror polished the insides of my receivers along with a bit of play with the recoil springs. My main SS TD has been heavily modded inside so i can even cycle CCI quiets without problem. I dont use that one for anything over standard velocity ammo as I find I get peppered due to the reduced spring tension and reduced friction areas. Parts are easy to come by so don't worry if you make a boo boo.
