hey guys i seen a couple posts on other forums with a 10/22 takedown with a heavy barrel, where can a guy get one? i wasnt able to find any answers. im thinking of getting a 10/22 takedown since i do allot of gopher hunting in my sxs. and one with heavy target barrel would be sweet. also on side note how short of a target barrel can you put on a 10/22 i keep getting contradictory answers.

As long as the gun is 26" overall its legal. I have a 12" barrel on my 10/22. You can also put an 8" barrel on it as long as you have the factory stock length on it.

I think the bull barrel for the takedown is a USA custom thing so far. Maybe a while before they get up here.

Not a usa custom thing, just a custom thing. I have a green mountain heavy sporter on my takedown.

So Gunsmith with a lathe? Or is there a custom rifle shop that does this kind of work? I'm new to this kind of stuff. All my other projects just needed a file and some patience lol.

Gunsmith with a lathe and milling machine, I had sent the reciever and barrel so he knew what he had to do to fit the new barrel.

What exactly is a Bull Barrel? and how is it better than the Stainless barrel?? I have a Takedown, and I love it

A bull barrel is a .960" contour barrel, heavier barrel that heats up slower and helps keep your aim steadier. That's why I went with a heavy sporter taper, it'll heat up slower but not much heavier than the standard contour.
