Was thinking of upgrading the trigger on my 10-22 anyone ever use one of those hammer and sear kits are they worth the savings or am I better off buying a complete timney or something like that? I'm pretty handy so not too worried about the install part just wondering what's the best bang for my buck? What would you recommend?

I put a Kidd two stage in for 350ish bucks. Its nice but i could have got some trigger parts for much cheaper and maybe got a better scope or whatever.

If you're pretty handy, just look up some videos on Youtube and remove some metal and from the sear and trigger and polish. Save yourself some bucks. I did that the first time and made a world of difference. Trigger pull was probably 8 lbs down to 3 lbs or so. Dremel tool was handy, had one so I didn't have to buy but others on Youtube didn't use one. Just various grits of sandpaper.

This is what I did to 2 of my 10/22's about a week ago. Really improved my trigger pull. Worst case scenario you take off to much and screw it up, then you have a excuse to buy aftermarket parts. :)

just buy the volquartzen target hammer from brownells, they are 34 bucks plus shipping last time I got a few. Huge difference in trigger pull. I messed around with stoning the oem one but this just makes more sense and less time consuming.

i used a jewelers rouge its like an 8000 grit cloth that fits on a dremel and polished up the parts it made a big difference and only took about 25 mins because i was very carefull to reassemble and test every so often so i didnt take to much off if you have a trigger scale apparently they are safe till you get to 2.6 lbs after that you can start to get issues try it if you fail then like the others said theres an excuse to buy something also check out the 10/22 tips forum the pollishing parts while its all apart is worth the investment realy good gains from little time invested
