I had both the plastic and metal and didnt have a single problem with either! the only reason I preferred the metal was because its a gun and for some reason when you mention the word gun plastic doesnt really go hand in hand with it. Plus I even took it to the extent of polishing the inside of the metal frame (as well as all the internals), which you cant do on plastic. But Ruger proved that the plastic frame is more durable. It all comes down to what you want to do with it.
