Hey gang. Wasn’t sure weather or not to post this in the gunsmith secion or here, but I digress.

I have been having this problem on and off with my Ruger 10/22 for the last year. The trigger does not return! I have done a trigger assembly tear-down and clean in the past, and it worked for a while, but 6 months later, it is back to not returning. There seems to be quite a bit of slop in the trigger return “cylinder” (the little nub between the trigger return spring and the trigger) and in the trigger itself from side to side. I am thinking this might be partially to blame. Is there a lasting solution to this problem? Is there a way for me to get rid of this slop?

Cheers,
Cody

Hey Cody,
Does your trigger group have all Ruger OEM parts in it??
Did you put anything "aftermarket" in it?
Did you alter anything in the trigger internals?

Got the gun brand-new 3 years ago, everything is OEM
Nothing aftermarket
Nothing is alterd in the triger group
The gun has the metal triger group if its of any significance

OK...good.
Did you happen to switch the sear spring & the trigger plunger spring when you put your trigger group internals back together??

Check your two springs as above to see if they got switched.
If not try this..
Take the rifle in hand and make sure it is unloaded and no rounds are in the chamber.
#### the bolt.
Next...Dry fire and when you pull the trigger hold it back. Do not release it!!
After you have dry fired the gun and held the trigger back, slowly let off the trigger moving your finger forward out of the way.
If it didn't reset, push the trigger forward.
If it clicks, the sear just engaged.
Get another trigger spring or your internals need to be polished, as something is binding somewhere.
