10/22 trigger upgrade advice?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for an inexpensive way to improve my 10/22 trigger. The gun is for plinking, so I don't need anything too elaborate. I picked up a Volquartsen target hammer kit (they didn't have the sear kit in stock) for $80 taxes included. I haven't decided if I'm going to open it up and keep it or not. Is $80 a decent price? Is there somewhere else in Canada that I can order it from for cheaper that might have the hammer/ sear combo kit? How much for the target/ sear combo? I can't seem to find VQ dealers here in Canada. If I just go with the Hammer kit, a buddy said he could help me polish up the sear and I'd probably be set. My other option is to look at mailing the assembly away to Brimstone or Dlask. What do you guys think? Also, about how long would Brimstone or Dlask take to get it back to me?

The VQ target hammer will work just fine & I don't think the sear makes a lot of difference. However $80.00 for the hammer alone seems a high price.

I used this years ago on a 10/22, it worked very well bringing the trigger pull down to 2 1/2 to 3lb range.

Brimstone enjoys a very good reputation on this site & also on rimfire central, I have no idea of his turn around time.

Ruger themselves announced a new drop-in replacement trigger assembly at this last SHOT.
Havent tried it so cant comment further.

On the recommendation of another CGN'er I went for the Brimstone top level job (Canadian special for $99 US + return shipping). I couldn't be happier with the trigger job; total turn around from me shipping out to me receiving was in the neighbourhood of 5 weeks. If I did purchase another 10/22 I'd get that same upgrade in a heartbeat.

I was excited to hear that Ruger made a drop-in replacement, but then I read some reviews that weren't so impressive. I guess the trigger is only down to like 4lbs. Too bad. I don't want to be without the gun for 5 weeks right now going into spring, so I'll probably drop the VQ hammer kit in for this year and think about sending the assembly away next winter. I hope to hear back from MilArm after the weekend to see what kind of prices they have on their VQ trigger kits. Are they the only place to find VQ parts in Canada?

Brimstone's turnaround depends on their workload. Typically I've heard from 2-4 weeks in Canada. Mine was done in just over 2 weeks from post office to post office, and is a great trigger.

Thanks,
Cal.
