Hello Gents,

I've got a new to me Ruger Charger (10/22 in pistol form) and it's first range outting was OK but there were more than few failures to extract that caused a jam and FTF. It really put a damper on the fun.

Looked at some brass and some cases were also getting damaged like stove piped and pinched case walls.

There are some after market parts on it but the mechanicals I think are untouched.

So where do I start? Go out and get a new extractor? A full detail strip/clean? Change out the springs?

Any advice would be appreciated as my other 10/22 a SR22 runs like a fricken top :)

Thanks for looking and stay safe,

I'm having the same issue with hc3r mags. However the ruger 10 and 50 round mags work flawlessly.
Try another mag with different ammo. If this helps, great, the extractor only does that extracts the spent round. The mag has the ejector. If you manually pull on the charging handle, does the round get kicked out or does it stay on the bolt by the extractor?

I recently got another new 1022 and it was experiencing similar issues, I put a very slight bend in the ejector and put a power custom handle and guide rod and spring. Now it runs great, just when I use the BC25 rd mags they have to be tipped forward(I usually hold the mag anyway).

Long over due post gents.

So after replacing a bunch of parts and no improvement, I put the project off to the side for a while.

Finally got off my ass, bought a bunch of different ammo and planned a long ass range trip to see what kind of ammo it liked.

This was also about the time I moved away from 3-in-1 cleaners (Breakfree CLP, C96 and the like) to a dedicated cleaner and separate lube.

Well I could have saved myself a ton of time if I had done this sooner. While my Ruger SR22 could be run with a little lube the new to me Charger likes it with more lube (insert embarrassed smiley here).

Now it eats every type of ammo I've put through it no problem. No FTF or FTE just a hella fun gun. It empties the mag as fast as you can pull the trigger.

Didn't think there would be that much difference between the same platform from the same manufacturer but just like people, guns have different needs.
