Bought my first 10/22 last week from the EE. It is a stainless, regular tapered barrel. Found a used SR-22 chassis and bought it. Been reading about V-blocks and barrel bands all night.
Curious as to what is normal 10/22 thinking when it comes to free floating the barrel. I know the SR-22 forend plastic block that supports the barrel will not fit mine as the taper is smaller. No worries, it can be made to support the barrel properly easily. For those of you that have removed them, what has been the results? Better/worse/same accuracy? Am I wrong in thinking that the barrel of a 10/22 needs to be supported to avoid possible damage to the aluminum receiver? Last thing I want is to mess the gun up.
Like I said, new ot the 10/22 world and would like to see what the best way to approach this will be.
cheers
