I'm looking into getting the ol lady her first gun, i've picked out a 10 22 as her first since it was my first a few decades ago and it's still as good as it was when I first got it. I love the ruger 10/22's so that's the brand no question.

The question I have is what do people think of those Wood stocks with the thumb holes that have the woodgrain color patterns and such, think they are called 'revolution' or something along those lines.
Here is a picture of one;

Do they wear out fast? Any problems or any good reviews from any owners?
I'm trying to get the most comfortable stock for her to shoot with so she won't be put off on the start and will get deeper into guns. Which in turn means she'll more than likely buy ME more guns :D win win!

Thanks!

I bought a 10/22 in 1985, it has been shot alot-standard carbine with birch stock. Still works great, pretty much never jammed. I found the gun to be comfortable as any 22. Now they are available in pink I think (with my wife the color would be the most important feature).
I hear people say the Marlin .22, model 795 is more desirable. -but I have no experience with it

Yea i've looked into the Marlin but the ruger's are my first love so if it aint broke don't fix it haha. Think i'm going to go with this though, if it breaks or wears I can just re-stock it anyways, just don't have any experience with this type of stock so figured I'd ask.

I've had about three or four 10/22's and they have so many after market upgrades for them that it is the best choice and the stock I have is a revolution from Barry at Bits of Pieces in Delta BC. They make different stocks with thumb hole and you may want to size your wife up to one before you purchase one. The pistol grip on them might be too big for a women's hand.

Love the stock and it just feels good in your arms when shooting.

Awesome thanks, yea luckily enough she doesn't have real tiny hands like alot of women. She's a good farm girl lol we went to check it out at P&D here in Edmonton and it fit her pretty well so back to the store I go I think haha
