10/22?

Are 10/22's all what they are cracked up to be?


I own a few .22's. a bolt action and some semis. I never got a 10/22 because there is none where I live. Is it worth it to sell my other .22's to get a 10/22?

I mean are they really any better than the rest? or is the hype just from the popularity?

I own one. It's a standard 10/22 with satin barrel and synthetic stock in bare bones stock condition. It came with a rail on top or something but I took it off so I could use the irons.

I have found the following: They are not that fussy about ammo, at least mine isn't. I only use the 10 round rotary magazines and have shot 4-5 different brands, types of projectile and grains through it. I did not notice any jams or stoppages depending on ammunition used. I have experienced stoppages with the long 25 round mags quite frequently.

They are very reliable with the 10 rnd magazine.

They are not that accurate. It's a 50 -100 meter plinking rifle in my opinion. I've never shot one with a "match heavy barrel" etc The price for those is off the chart for a cheap semi auto, blowback operated .22 lr rifle with more plastic than metal on her lol If you're looking for precision accuracy get a good quality bolt .22 rifle. The design does not lend itself to accuracy right off the bat.

I think the reason they are so popular is because there are so many accessories for them, people can barbie doll them up with any mix of rails, stocks etc etc It's a dress up toy if you're into that stuff.

They are fun though, cheap to shoot, they have an elegant simplicity to them in their stock configuration that I really like. I highly recomend owning one.

Bought mine used with and extra 25 rds mag at 250$. It was made in 1994 and I've shot more than 2000rds without any problem.

For the ammo, im using winchester 555 round box from wallmart without getting any jam. My friend is using the Federal rds in is more recent 10/22. I,ve tried them, but getting jam each 4 round, even with 10 round mag. If yuo buy one and get problem, i suggest you to try different brand.

Fun to shoot and pretty cheap! Will buy one for my girlfriend, maybe 2!
