Since you're looking for a .980 barrel anyways I'd say go with the Houge overmoulded stock. I love mine.

had a houge overmold on my last gun. I love them but want something wood this time that is left hand friendly.... want a heavy gun

my last 10/22 wore a volq. 16.25" THM barrel and the houge overmold and I swear the thing weighed like 3 lbs....

Wes, your old 10/22 is still my favourite gun!!!

I have put at least 4,000-5,000 rounds thru it and it still is accurate as ever. I find WallyWorld bulk packs and ELEY Practice are its two favourite loads.

Have you checked out the Boyd Smart Stock?It for left or right $99 USD you have to sand and finish it---but it comes over the border no problems---falls under the $100 mark.
