Hi,

Does anyone know where to find these 10/30 Lar-15 mags in stock? I've found a few places but all seem to be sold out? Like this one http://practicalperformance.ca/shop/l-ar-2235-56-1030rd-pistol-mag/

Stamping LAR-15 on a mag does not make it legal. They were deemed prohibited by the RCMP. The only mag they allow for the LAR-15 are 10 rounds because they were originally designed for the pistol, no 10 round mags existed for the rifles before they made the pistol ones.

That sucks. They didn't look any different than my favourite stainless steel C Products Defense Lar-15 mags. Only thing different really is the length.

Are the 10/20 ATRS ones legal? Those also seem to be sold out in every colour.

Would be really nice to find a longer LAR-15 with a little more space to grip onto.

I filled out a contact form on the website last night and he responded this after morning. The import permit is not been renewed and is under RCMP " review" on the legality of having larger bodies on lar-15 mags.

Yup...stupid...but so is entirely all CDN firearm law.

Couple them....makes for a length that is functional from a manipulation aspect, provides 20 rds pretty much onboard....looks great....winwinwin

The other great option are ranger plates.
I use ranger plated LAR mags in both my AR's and Mossberg Patrol.
Excellent ergos and user friendliness...and look great.

Does the LAR-15 pistol not use 5.56 STANAG pattern magazines? I thought 10 round magazines did exsist before the lar-15 for communist areas in America that also limit round capacity to 10. By didn't exsist does that apply to exsist in Canada only?

When I compare my C Defense products lar-15 mags they appear to be the same pattern as a USGI 5.56 STANAG but in 10 round stick, other then the length there didn't seem to be any redesign with the body. I also have polymer lar-15 mags which look totally different then a USGI STANAG, with smooth sides and slightly different openings at the top.

It seems very confusing. I though the RCMP law was to govern magazine capacity not form factor? 10, 10/20, 10/30 they are all the same capacity, I never seen anything saying must not exceed X length. The 10 round mags are so short they almost get swallowed whole by magwells and packs.

Yeah I was looking at couplers and ranger plates on SFRC for my C Def mags. Probably going to go that route.

I just figured these would be simpler, and since I also seen the polymer 10/20 at ATRS I figured they were probably all approved. The 10/20 ATRS also seems like a great form factor but since they are out of stock I'm not sure if they are also experiencing similar approval issues.

I have several ATRS 10/20 mags.
They have not held up well.
The feed lips have split as well as they tend to bulge at the feed lips when the mags get tired.
My mags were the very 1st gen that ATRS was selling..they are actually marked Isreali rather than the next gen that ATRS were/are selling that have ATRS stamped on them.
Not sure if the next gen are any better? They appear identical??

They are an ideal size/shape as far as manipulation and ergos go...and look great. Great option for our unique CDN AR quagmire :)
Very cool that a CDN company like ATRS is the vendor as well :)
I want to like them ...they just haven't held up as well or performed as either Magpul or C products have...for me.

All of my LAR 10rd mags perform and hold up excellent.
They are a PITA to use without ranger plates or coupled....to the point of I pretty much wouldn't use them without either of these approaches.

Try fishing LAR mags out of a chest rig or other setup....gong show... :)

When using ranger plated LAR's I put pieces of abs plastic tubing cut to AR mag width in the bottom of the mag pouches so that the LARs sit proud as a 30rd mag is intended to.
The rounded profile of the abs tubing doesn't interfere or snag anything and works well...till I handstand :):):)

Ive seen some guys that have stitched their mag pouches short to work well with LAR mags.....a CDN chest rig :)

It'll all be mute when the govt prohibs LAR's...and AR's...and prolly chest rigs too :):):)

Off topic...I wear a AR chest rig when off road motorcycle/snowmile riding.

Makes a great setup stuffed with GPS/cell phone/multi tool/knife/flashlight/granola bars/H2o bottles/tools/etc.
I get plenty of weird looks and comments in restaurants/camps/bars etc on it...followed by..that's pretty cool :)

Then the naysayers snivel who figure I'll end up with all that crap stuck in my chest when I crash....they might be right... LOL

terez, which model of the ranger plates do you need for a LAR-15 mag?

Crap..can't remember....its been quite a while since I bought any.
They should be the same for any of the metal C products or Caldwell mags? Same baseplate config??

If you have a LAR and some C products or other similar metal 30rd mags check that the baseplate are the same??

Good to know about the ATRS mags. I would be willing to give the second gen a shot to try and support a Canadian company that tried to bring a product to market that we desperately need. Not a huge investment so there's not much to lose.

I don't unerstand why Magpull doesn't have any Lar mags in Canada. They already have gen 3 10 round sticks in the states so it's not like they lack the molds. I also don't think anything can stand up to the quality of C Products, those stainless steel mags are real gems, they drop free out of any platform, don't get dented like aluminum USGI mags every time you drop one, and just overall look and feel great.
