Just bought a 10.5 flat top.
Took it for a test drive tonight and it
would fire a round and not eject it.
Then jam another round in behind.?(15 rounds like this)
Not an AR guy, so I'm not sure if there is a break in period.?
Any suggestions?

Cheers

I think Walt at Armseasts has the extractor upgrade kit - that may help you.

However, it will only help to certain extent if the gas port was grossly oversized by the factory

Your best course of action is to shove this thing back to the factory if the o-ring does not help - actually, the factory should be smart enough to put the proper spring or o-ring if they know what they are doing.

THis upper really gets my interest, so I did a search of the EE - is it this one??? Seriously, does anyone know of Sterling Armament? I doubt this is the UK one that makes the sterling SMG.

Sterling = British contract made Armalite
But i thought they only made AR18 and 180's

That one pictured looks like an RRA/M1S upper
Does it say anything on the top of the barrel between the front sight and flash hider?

Sterling Armaments Company and Sterling Works of Dagenham, Essex, England don't seem to be "eager to be found" (although you can google map their buildings) and as far as I can ascertain no longer produce firearms. They did produce licenced Armalites starting 1974 but I cannot find any information on how many of these were AR-15s and when they ceased production but it appears to be in the early 80s.

I would contact the seller and ask him about the provenance of the rifle. Was the bbl replaced or cut down? Was the receiver originally a carry handle model that has been made into a flat top?

Sterling did make some AR18 under the license of the original Armalite - but that was long time ago. AR-15, by the 70's, is owned by Colt.

My 10.5 RRA upper did that for the first fifteen or so rounds, and really mangled the rim up on them. After the first day I just poked the extractor a bit and it's worked fine since.
