10 ga. o/u

Heard a good rumour one of the reasons you rarely observe the demand for O/U ten gauge is they are more apt to double as opposed to a sxs.

Logically thinking, ten gauge sxs has had a century perhaps two centuries to mature.
The modern 10 gauge O/U not so much.
Sorry I didn't answer your question.

A big hurdle to bringing in 10g shotguns is Turkish manufacturers don't want to touch them since anything 20mm or larger requires further government approval to manufacture. 10g is not 20mm but it's close enough that they apparently don't want to touch it. There is a Spanish O/U I can't recall, maybe AYA, but they are hard to find.

^^ difference is not much when comparing apples to apples. A 3&1/2 12 ga with heavy load will run ~58lbs, a similar 10 is 62. If they are both sending the same load at the same velocity the recoil is the same. Gun weight will make a different.

I find it quickly tiring shooting 2 1/4oz loads but it's not really a big deal. I started my 10ga journey with a cut down Stevens single shot. Doesn't get much lighter than that. Just more gunshop talk, like ".44 mag is a wristbreaker!" and other such nonsense.

Tell him to buy a Gold 10 Browning. Same weight roughly, less recoil and three shots! They are goose smashers. I shot one for 10 seasons. Now I shoot nothing but a 20ga. I traded calling and hunting skills for shooting reach, lol.

Sxs guns come up often. Not very common in 10ga. He will likely be looking for a while and have to settle for the few examples that can be found

That said i much prefer my 10s over 3.5" 12s. Less recoil less muzzle rise and better patterns

A couple of years ago on GunsInternational a 1930s era Francotte SxS in 10 gauge 2 7/8 inch smokeless came up for sale.
Had a straight English grip and mysteriously narrow weld between the barrels that was only apparent from a front view the muzzles.
It weighed just shy of nine pounds.
Was a work of art that you rarely find anywhere. I didn't have adequate funds at that time regrettably.

Up until a couple years ago, F.A.I.R. was making O/U 10 gauge under the Lincoln badge, you can still find the odd one floating around. The O/U was not a popular configuration for that cannon of a gauge.

That being said, I shoot a BPS Stalker in 10ga at geese, not really any noticeable difference in recoil to shooting 3" steel mag from a 12ga. But the 10ga also has about 4lbs over my 12ga SXP.
