Recently made up handloads using Parker Brother's all brass 2 7/8 inch hull, in an antique JP Sauer shotgun worked over by Nick, a Birmingham trained gunsmith.

-36 Number 4 buckshot pellets
-shot buffer
-Circle Fly wads and overshot cards
-96 grains of FFG Goex
-large pistol primers

Patterned at 25 versus 40 yards, choke is Skeet #2.
Resulted in a very even shot dispersion.

Used the Track of the Wolf 10 gauge BP booklet publication and this falls right into a medium strength load.

Info

You are likely referring to Nick Makinson. Nick is a Birmingham trained gunmaker, and a good one, at that. Nice to hear when an old firearm like yours is restored to good shooting order again. Load a few of those brass hulls with a healthy dose of bismuth shot and watch the geese tumble from the sky this fall.
