10 inch AR Handguard install how to? I cant figure this out.

I dont know if it's the gun the hand guards or I'm just a moron but I bought some brownells skinny CAR 15 style skinny handguards to replace the OEM fat ones and I cant for the life of me figure out how to get them installed. Keeping in the theme of cheaping out I also bought a NC star hand guard removal tool which isn't much help. Come to think of it I cant also get the OEM hand guards back on either.#

Any tricks to get these things installed.
 
Maybe a few pics of exactly what you are doing?

Do you have a triangle plate at the front (touching the gas block) or a round one?
