10 Round AR Mag Adapters

OK mods, don't lock this as a duplicate thread.

Now that the pistol mags are getting out to everyone are there any enterprising members who are trying to design a way to give them the size and feel of a 30 round body?

Maybe something that would slide or clip on to the bottom of the mag and be the same shape as a 30 for those of us using vests and such where we need more to grab (3 gun, IPSC rifle, Service Rifle, etc)?

I'm still waiting on CRAFM to deliver mine so at the moment I can't offer any sugestions.

Someone mentioned attaching two together via the floor plates for one 20 round magazine, ten from each side. I don't think I need a diagram for that.

It won't be as long as a 30 rounder, but whats wrong with installing some Magpul (or other) Ranger plates?

What if you were to mount another 10rd bottom to bottom? Then you would have double mags of approximately the right length...or maybe thats a dumb idea...

When I used 20rnd (pinned to 5rnd) mags, the rubber magpuls held the mags just fine in the 30rnd mag pouches like Tactical Tailor or Tactical Tiger. The mags slip into the pouch, but the rubber Magpul won't go in, so the mags "hang" in the pouches.
Should work the same with the 10 rounders, but retention of the oh-so-short mags in the pouches may be a problem without the bungee cords holding the mags in the pouch.
I'm not a gamer myself... ...but the idea of rivetting the two 10rnd mag baseplates together and having a "20rnd" mag appeals to me.

Why not just put cardboard or something into the bottom of the pouches?

While that would help with the mags riding in the right spot in your vest there wouldn't be a lot of mag to hold on to when you're grabbing it and sticking it in the mag well.

Couldn't you just get use to "scooping" the short mag into the magwell?
