Hi there,
I am just wondering if any of the Dealers or CGN members know if 10 round mags for the Rem 7600 LA are available (and legal) in Canada. If anyone has a couple for a reasonable price I wouldn't mind picking a couple up. I have a 35 Whelen Carbine in 7600 that I would like to loads some pistol rounds for. A 10 round mag with this would be nice for gopher hunting;). Thanks in advance.

The older 742 and 760 shared the same aftermarket Colyer 8 round magazine and although the OEM 742 magazine has a bolt release on it the Colyer mag was advertised as made for both semi and pump.

That makes it prohibited as I read the law unless it's pinned to 5.

Don't know if that mag would fit your gun but they are around.

Here's a thought. The solution to your problem might be in Australia. Their gun laws are worse than ours; and that leads to the curious situation where they can't have pump shotguns but pump rifles are fine. They basically can't have auto loaders. That leads to fire-power loving Aussies using Remington pumps where you'd sort of expect an AR, or around here any of a number of pop rivited autoloaders. There is a definite market for extended mags for 7600s, made and sold by and to people who have never seen a 7400 but like to pimp out pump rifles.

You could start by googling Triple K and Lucky 13, that would get you started. I don't have a clue what it takes to get them here, but big mags for 7600s without mentioning 7400s do exist.

In a pump gun u can have a 10 round mag perfectly legal

NO.

As the magazine is marketed for both Remington pumps and semi's, the RCMP classify it as a semi mag, and it needs to be pinned.

Do an internet search on legal magazine capacities and you'll see the RCMP specifically address this.

Sorry. :(

You are right of course and for some guys with smaller calibers it might be a nuisance...my pump is a 35 Whelan and I think 5 rounds is perfectly adequate for my hunting purposes!
Although...the Rem 7615 is a pump action and I "believe" that 10 rd mags of a specific type are approved for that rifle....
