Just putting it out there, but, let's say they do get screwed down south and are limited to 10 rounds, that might prompt some manufactures to take a play from our play book up here.

What's to stop magpul from simply changing how they mark their pmags to .458 socom, and nothing else changes.... That's a relatively easy modification to their existing tooling. On the upside, we'd then be able to import .458 socom mags pinned to 5 rounds of said caliber..... In a pmag no less....

I've tried to mention this on a few US forums, only to watch the thread get nuked. It seems like a reasonable idea to us. But in the states they see it as a loophole and don't want any liberal-types knowing about it until after any laws are passed.

I think their focus for the immediate future will be to mass-produce as many existing high capacity magazines as they can, before any kind of ban is implemented and takes effect.

I agree on this point as well, however, if it were me, I'd be thinking about how I can keep making money after the ban goes into effect, and, simply modifiying the magazine body to be marked for a different caliber would make perfect sense. I don't expect this to happen overnight, but, I'd be of the impression that this is what would have to happen. Of course, our magazine laws are quite out of date, and never foresaw this possiblity, whereas, they might very well account for this potentiality with the language in a new ban....

I'm clearly looking a little further ahead here than the present situation.

My thinking would be military, LE and international sales. Plus Magpul has already come out with a 10-round polymer magazine, so clearly someone had their thinking caps on.

Now only if it was branded as a 10 round pistol mag.

I can't believe they don't see 10 round pistol mags as a massive market for them.

I think the 10-round PMAG was designed with the California market in mind. Canada is really an afterthought for most US manufacturers...

Unfortunate, but true.
Still...they sould just get a old fashond cattle brander and smack "pistol mag" on all the canadian export ones.

Not that simple. It has to be specifically designed and marketed for a pistol. Since they already have a 10-round "rifle" magazine, simply re-stamping it isn't going to fly. You'd need an entirely new design marketed specifically for "pistols" only. Then it would have to be vetted by the CFC, of course. Meanwhile, there's plenty of LAR15s. And they can be "Magpul'd" with a new follower and ranger plate.

What calibre can you put in these mags and how many will it fit?
